Rocket Launches:
To learn if there is a launch during your stay (and staying abreast of it), we recommend downloading an app called "Space Launch Schedule".
- After downloading the app, select the three bars in the upper left-hand corner
- Select U.S. ONLY
- Select specific locations of Cape Canaveral and Kennedy Space Center
- You will get notification of cancellation, delays, etc...
- Lastly, about 15 minutes before a scheduled launch, open the app and click on the live video feed. It is good to be able to listen to the moderator while watching the launch.

WATCHING FROM SPANISH MAIN #16 or #12: You may get a more complete view if you go down to the beach or "walkover" because sometimes the rocket gets obscured in the upper atmosphere by the roof of the building.
WATCHING FROM SANDCASTLES 709: We have watched a launch from the Sandcastles unit and had a very clear of the launch with no interference from the top of the building.
WATCHING FROM THE PORT: Of course you can drive up to Port Canaveral and watch it. Just find a good vantage point. Or, if yo want to turn it into a dining experience, Fishlips, on the second floor deck overlooking the port is probably the best - but any would do. Just arrive very early, plan on spending a lot of money to keep your wait staff happy and plan on leaving after the crowds and traffic die down. Also, realize the launches often times get scrubbed - so you may leave full but unfulfilled ;-)
WHERE TO LOOK: If you are at one of our three condo's, you will probably first see the glow of the rocket launch closer in-land near where the beach meets Kennedy Space. AKA, to the left - and not out on the tip of Kennedy Space peninsula.

SONIC BOOMS: SpaceX rockets typically have boosters that separate and return to earth and land on drone ships. In fact, it is just as cool to watch the return and landing of a rocket booster. You should also hear a sonic boom... so be ready for it.
